Accessibility

AES Education handles academic accommodations through the Access Office and fixes barriers on the website when they are reported.

The Access Office is in Alder Hall, room 112. Write to [email protected] or call (541) 628-4170, weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time. This page was revised on October 1, 2026.

Academic accommodations

Students request accommodations before the term, or as soon as a need arises. The office asks for documentation from a qualified professional when the need is not obvious. Approved accommodations are sent to instructors on a form that states the adjustment, not the diagnosis. Common adjustments on this campus include extended time on timed exams, a note-taking arrangement, captioning for Tide Hall events, and housing changes handled with the residence office.

Field work and the water

Marine and engineering field requirements can be met with an equivalent if a documented condition makes a particular boat, dock, or shore site unsafe. The program chair and the Access Office write the equivalent before the term starts. The requirement itself is not waived without that written plan.

The website

Public pages are built as static HTML with labeled form fields and a visible focus state. If a page blocks you, write to [email protected] with the address of the page and what you were trying to do. We acknowledge the report within three business days and say when a correction will ship.

Campus buildings

Hester Hall, the Seacliff Library, Tide Hall, and the four houses have step-free entries. The marine laboratory dock has a ramp; the float moves with the tide, and staff will meet a visitor at the head of the ramp if asked a day ahead. Call the Access Office to arrange that meeting.
