Maya Lindgren ’09 Named Director of the Calder Bay Port Authority

The Calder Bay Port Commission voted on September 9, 2025, to appoint Maya Lindgren as port director, effective January 5, 2026. Lindgren is a 2009 graduate in coastal engineering. She has been the authority’s engineering manager since 2018. She replaces Director Harold Peet, who is retiring in December after fourteen years.

The senior project that is still on the float

Lindgren’s 2009 senior project was the first set of drawings for the Pilot Cove public float. The float was rebuilt by an AES design-build crew in 2025, using her drawing as the starting sheet and changing the cleat layout. She reviewed the shop drawings as the port’s engineer, which she has told the alumni office was “awkward in the useful way.” The port paid the crew. The project was not a gift from the university.

I still walk that float on the way to the commission meeting. If the cleats are wrong, I hear about it before I sit down. That is a better review than the one I had in 2009.

What the job is

The director runs the port’s staff of 64, the channel maintenance contract, and the environmental office that takes AES environmental-science students for their field term. Lindgren will not teach at AES. She has agreed to sit once a year on the coastal-engineering senior review, which is an afternoon, not a faculty appointment.
